A Rostered Day Off (RDO) in Australia is a scheduled day of paid leave that workers accumulate by working slightly more than the standard paid hours each day.
Here’s how it works:
– Employees work 8 ordinary hours per day.
– Of those 8 hours, 7.2 hours are paid, and the remaining 0.8 hours are banked toward an RDO.
– Over a 15-day work cycle, those 0.8 hours per day accumulate to a full 8-hour day.
– This banked time is stored in an RDO balance (often referred to as an RDO bank).
– Once a full 8 hours have been accumulated, the worker can request a day off using that time — this is the RDO.
RDOs help maintain a work-life balance while still meeting standard weekly hours over the longer term. They are usually planned in advance and must be approved by a supervisor.
To request a Rostered Day Off (RDO), please follow these steps:
1. Open the Xero Me App
Log in using username
2. Create a New Leave Request
3. Fill in the Required Details:
Leave Type: Select RDO
Date: Choose the day you’re requesting.
Note: RDOs must be requested at least one week in advance and must be for a full 8 hours day
Approver: Select your Supervisor’s name
Description: Indicate whether it’s a Fixed RDO or Flexible RDO
Submit the Leave Request
Double-check the details and tap Submit to send it for approval.
